Massive Silver Fish Weights at The Venue for the "Fish for £3k" Final (July 08, 2009)
Massive Silver Fish Weights at The Venue for the "Fish for £3k" Final

Last week the Angling Times claimed that it could have been the greatest silver fish match of all time, but how wrong they were as this week was truely the greatest silver fish Match in the history of Lake John, as the Middy's finest Graham Dack top's the scales with 252lb 8oz...

Graham Dack, Middy, peg 36, 252-8-0

A form peg as Rob Bishop claimed second place last week from this peg, but take nothing away from Graham as he caught fish from the off and as the day got going the fish were in a feeding frenzie and with the slight over cast conditions there couldn't have been any better chance to smash Mick's record weight from last week, and smash it he did, meat at 5m and 6m up in the water, and its the meat that is sorting out the bigger fish at one stage the wind got up and Graham just decided to fish closer with just his top kit and the fish just kept coming, no tench, no carp just skimmers and bream and a satified winner, as the final bag of fish hit the scales the was a very well deserved round of aplause for a job well done.

Micky Hood, Bowlers, peg 11, 163-0-0

A champion and a record holder last week and this week reduced to second and no record to up hold, but another great days fishing slightly diferent to last week still fishing meat but it was on the deck at 6m yet again a huge bag of silvers and just like Graham it was up off the peg to retrieve a third net to kept the fish safe and well as the last two hours of the match were begining to close in, Micky Hood ex-record holder.....

Alec Roberts, Middy, peg 9, 162-4-0

Alec's heighest ever match weight at Lake John and for this he can only manage a third, Alec has been breaking the ton for the last two months and has really got this place sorted out, the tried and tested sort meat line didn't work and therefore an hour of the match was wasted trying to get the fish to feed but like a real pro it didn't take him long to work it out and the new feed line was at 13m up in the water with meat to the hook and loose fed...

Colin Bartlett, Lake John-J+Tackle, peg 39, 131-0-0

Paul Reddy, Lake John, peg 8, 124-0-

Kenny Farrell, Browning-Lake John, peg 33, 123-4-0

20 Fished
