Mat has been in the top six every
week for weeks and it makes you wonder if he has been waiting for the golden peg
all a long before he snatched the victory, an early look on the feeder started
things for Mat but when the long and short pole line seemed very slow Mat
decided that he best stay on the tip and try his luck, the worm has been very
productive of late but it was a single grain of corn with a short 6" hook link
that done the damage, micro pellet and crumb in an open end feeder and the fish
just kept coming, plenty of skimmers and two small net able carp + a big bonus
10lb catch and release and a £250 pay day in with the deal
Alec Roberts, Middy-Lake John, peg 29,
70-8-0
As the Fish to Win final
approaches all eyes are on Roberts and the thing with this lake that alot of
people don't know, you would draw this peg another day and really not fancy it
but the wind had changed and the fish just move round, Alec kept buzzing in the
margins early and moved on to his longer 6m and 13m lines after the first hour,
pellet to the hook and a careful as you go feed approach but its not winter yet
and you still need a bit of bait to keep the fish in your peg, one bonus carp
for Mr. Middy and two more that let go + a great day on the
silvers.
Ken Farrell, Browning-Lake John,
peg 36, 66-0-0
Ken had a great match with no carp
getting in the way and for all those Fish to Win finalist reading this Ken
caught all match on the waggler so you tell me the best method at the moment
three different style in the frame, Ken loose fed 6m expander pellet and a grain
of corn to the hook and he got soaked because he couldn't put his brolley up
bless him...
